I filled my lighter with the wrong fuel?

I have a Ronson lighter that my dad gave to me, but he did not explain that the Ronson lighters need Butane Gas, and not Light Petroleum. So, following refill instructions I found online, I filled it up with the wrong fuel and now I don't know how to remove it. Any help?
